I’m not certain where in the village this is located but take a drive around via Google: https://goo.gl/maps/tn6iBsJ2GDT2
The translation is a bit strange but I think it’s saying that this was rebuilt around 1800 after a fire, later turned into a residence for the local Abbey. I don’t know what “murderous … were canned” means. The is the translation that was given in English on the agency site.

“Murderous…were canned”: meurtrières :https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arrowslit

That makes more sense! Thank you!

“were canned” is a wrong translation and would mean : were kept/retained.

Conques is one of the most beautiful villages in France (there’s an official list: “Les plus beaux villages de France”): http://www.france-beautiful-villages.org/en/conques
I’ve been there, you park your car (with a fee) and then stroll in the old and narrow and steep medieval streets. Just amazing. The road to go there is long and slow because it’s in the mountains.
This particular property is said to be in a nearby village, but unfortunately they’re not covered by Google Streetview, so I cannot look and try to find it 🙁

They said it was rebuilt in the 1800s, but it looks definitely older. The bigs stones at the top of the exterior wall make it look medieval, almost like a crenellated wall top. If it has renaissance elements, then it would date back to the 16th C. And medieval even maybe earlier.

My husband and I were wondering why the cars were parked on a rural lane above the village! LOL Thanks for answering that question.

Once you’ve paid you’re given a sticker that exempts you for the next times you come with the same car. Or so was it a few years ago when we went there!
This is a pic of me laughing while my bf was taking a quick snap of this crazy thing i was doing (at the bottom of Conques church) because i knew this could be seen as offensive maybe: https://tinyurl.com/missapple37inconques
