"Gibbons Place is a fine example of a Kentish Hall House dating from about 1500, with additions in the mid-16th Century and later. The main house extends to approximately 3,713 sq. ft. and was arranged as an irregular T, with the west wing consisting of the original Hall House.

The principal reception rooms and bedrooms, are light, spacious, and face south overlooking the formal gardens which provide a fine setting for the house. The accommodation is well proportioned and well arranged for both modern family living and entertaining on a grand scale.

The first floor is approached by a wonderful oak staircase. There are six bedrooms served by three bathrooms. There is a second staircase at the northern end of the house providing access to the first floor and enabling versatility to the first floor accommodation.

To the western side of the house is a courtyard, off which is a building of similar construction to the house, incorporating laundry room, store room and wine store. There is a range of further buildings to the northeast of the house comprising greenhouse, implement store and garden shed with adjoining lean-to woodshed.

The formal gardens are delightful and beautifully maintained, lying to the south and east of the house. To the south is a terrace with steps down to a lawn. To the east of the house is the old tennis court. The gardens also include a summer house, Wendy house and gazebo. To the north of the house are two areas of kitchen garden. Beyond the garden to the south and east of the house is a paddock extending to approximately three acres.

    Absolutely incredible. Beautiful gardens. I assume a “Wendy house” is the children’s playhouse we see in the photo? I don’t usually like low ceilings but this is lovely. It seems very light and livable. I would love to see more photos of the bathrooms and the staircases they talk about. Imagine the history between 1500 and now. About 500 years old!!! My mother (who is now 95 and lives in the US) was raised in this area of Kent in the 1920-40s and knows the house.
